What to expect at

Assessment.

I've booked my assessment, now what?

Face to face working

So you have started upon your journey and booked in your assessment.  Remember if you feel you have a head full of things you want to bring to counselling, you can keep a list and take it to your assessment.

Once you have arrived, take a few minutes and focus on your breathing and then gather any things you made need.

Your counsellor will greet you at the door.  You can then get comfortable.  Your counsellor will then explain how and why they store data.  They will then give you a basic information form to complete (so don't forget your reading glasses).

The form will ask basic questions, such as name, address and a little bit of medical history.  There will be a part to sign and share emergency contacts.

The counsellor will then inform how they work, and give you information about sessions, fees, cancellations and working together.

You can then have a chat with them and express what you would like to gain from counselling.  This can help give you the space to see if you feel you can work with the counsellor.

You can then choose to book in future sessions there and then, or you can go away and think about it, then get back to the counsellor.  Please note the counsellor can not hold future sessions for you, if you do want to hold them, then a deposit will be needed and full commitment within 24 hours.

There is time to ask questions surrounding your expectations.

There is bottled water in the counselling room, there are also some aids to help if you feel talking is too much. (due to Covid safety measures the above are not currently available)

Online working:
I also offer online work too, so after first contact I will email you password protected documents for you to complete and return to me, or we can complete them together online, then we can set up a short Zoom meeting, where I will explain how I work and you can ask any questions and we can discuss what you feel your needs are.  This is FREE OF CHARGE.  You can then decide to book in regular sessions or contact me at a later date.  All session are paid via BACS  2 hours prior to the session.  I will email you your Zoom invite on the day of your session.  For Skype and telephone I will contact you at your allocated time.  All online sessions are from my confidential counselling room, where I usually deliver my face to face sessions
